CEU Library - the hub of research in the field of social sciences

Central European University (CEU) is a US- and Hungarian-licensed and accredited university founded in Budapest, Hungary in 1991. Concentrating on the social sciences and humanities, the university pursues a mission of achieving excellence in teaching, research and policy development. CEU's special focus is on challenges of open societies and democratization.
The Central European University Library, founded by George Soros in June 1992, has the largest collection of English-language materials in the fields of the social sciences and the humanities in CEE. The holdings reflect the extensive and specialized curriculum of CEU, focusing on subjects which help develop and sustain open societies in CEE. Its primary aim is to become a leading research and information center in the region by using all available means of information technology.
